Killybegs 2012

on Wed, 2012-10-24 10:54

Great time in Killybegs last weekend. 11 Club Members made the trip from Galway to Donegal. John Sheahan, ably assisted by Thomas Moore, towed Joe Fada while Gareth Rogan towed the club compressor (thanks guys!). It was my first time to dive out of Killybegs and was suitably impressed with the facilities to hand.

The proximity of the large slipway to the Tara Hotel made transition from boat to shower a joy, especially when you have a leaking dry suit!!

Weather conditions were also ideal on Saturday, clear skies and little swell. We dived St John's point and Blackrock (old GSAC favourites). Both dives had an abundance of life below.

Sunday, sea conditions changed and after consulting with the local club Donegal Bay SAC we dived just outside Killybegs harbour on the right, pleasant 20M dive along a wall.

Really enjoyable weekend and big thanks to Thomas for organising it. It's the end of the season for a lot of divers, but not here at GSAC. Roll on the rest of the year.

Will hopefully be making a return trip in 2013.
