France 2012

on Thu, 2012-10-18 21:06

I'm just back from the club holiday to Juan-les-Pins in the south of France, with day trips over to Monaco. Very different world, including the 21 degree water temperature. We had a great time, diving every day at 9am and again at 2pm, leaving us plenty of time to tour around, or just sit on the beach. Oh it's a hard life :)

Everyone wanted to keep the cost down, so we had booked a set of chalets (basically glorified garden sheds) in

New Club Divers!

on Tue, 2012-09-25 22:04

Congratulations to our new club divers Alicja, Micheal and Killian who passed their club diver test last Saturday up in Killary Harbour. Dave Jackson from Pucan Sub Aqua Club was examining.

Joe saw over the whole affair in his role of RDO.

Of course, we must not forget John Flavelle and Paula Harte who passed their club diver tests over the past couple of weeks as well.  Unfortunately we have no pictures of them.

Achill Island weekend

on Wed, 2012-08-29 21:01

Last weekend we hit off for Achill with a handful of knowledge, some charts and a depth finder. This year has been one of much exploration for GSAC. We are a very active club, which gives us the added bonus of being able to take a chance on a dive site in the hope of finding something new and unexplored.

The group dropped in on the Bills, Inish Galloon and dived below the impressive Minaun cliffs.

Killary camping weekend

on Sun, 2012-07-22 21:10

Just back from a great weekend's diving on Inis Turk and camping on the north shore of Killary Harbour. No campsite, just wild camping on the side of a hill. I have to say I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it was great craic. We'll definitely have to do it again. Fair play to Thomas Moore for organising. And two great dives on Inis Turk into the bargain. Sure what more could you want. See the Facebook photo album for some great shots.
